Freedom from Depression

Men and brethren, depression will lie every day to you, and one of its best lies is that you cannot do anything to help yourself. And yes, you may have a past filled with rejection, shame and possibly abuse but obedience to Gods word will always point the way toward freedom. So, when you are frustrated, disappointed and feel the whole world has deserted you, go back to God who gave you the first dream.

Capital Thinking

Men and brethren, until your mind is renewed you cannot be ushered into the realm of overcomers. (Romans 12:2). What you need to make the love in your family to be heaven on earth is capital of thinking of how to make it happen. I see people looking for Prophets that will see limitations and who is after them; you will only create more trouble for yourself by doing that. Capital (money) is not the first thing you need, what you need in life is Capital thinking. “For as he thinks within himself, so he is” Proverbs 23:7

Spiritual Growth: the Spiritual Challenge of Modern Times

Tip Title:Spiritual Growth: the Spiritual Challenge of Modern Times Tip Description:To grow spiritually in a world defined by power, money, and influence is a Herculean task. Modern conveniences such as electronic equipments, gadgets, and tools as well as entertainment through television, magazines, and the web have predisposed us to confine our attention mostly to physical needs and wants. As a result, our concepts of self-worth and self-meaning are muddled. How can we strike a balance between the material and spiritual aspects of our lives? To grow spiritually is to look inward. Introspection goes beyond recalling the things that happened in a day, week, or month. You need to look closely and reflect on your thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and motivations. Periodically examining your experiences, the decisions you make, the relationships you have, and the things you engage in provide useful insights on your life goals, on the good traits you must sustain and the bad traits you have to discard. Moreover, it gives you clues on how to act, react, and conduct yourself in the midst of any situation. Like any skill, introspection can be learned; all it takes is the courage and willingness to seek the truths that lie within you. Here are some pointers when you introspect: be objective, be forgiving of yourself, and focus on your areas for improvement. To grow spiritually is to develop your potentials. Religion and science have differing views on matters of the human spirit. Religion views people as spiritual beings temporarily living on Earth, while science views the spirit as just one dimension of an individual. Mastery of the self is a recurring theme in both Christian (Western) and Islamic (Eastern) teachings. The needs of the body are recognized but placed under the needs of the spirit. Beliefs, values, morality, rules, experiences, and good works provide the blueprint to ensure the growth of the spiritual being. In Psychology, realizing oneís full potential is to self-actualize. Maslow identified several human needs: physiological, security, belongingness, esteem, cognitive, aesthetic, self-actualization, and self-transcendence. James earlier categorized these needs into three: material, emotional, and spiritual. When you have satisfied the basic physiological and emotional needs, spiritual or existential needs come next. Achieving each need leads to the total development of the individual. Perhaps the difference between these two religions and psychology is the end of self-development: Christianity and Islam see that self-development is a means toward serving God, while psychology view that self-development is an end by itself. To grow spiritually is to search for meaning. Religions that believe in the existence of God such as Christianism, Judaism, and Islam suppose that the purpose of the human life is to serve the Creator of all things. Several theories in psychology propose that we ultimately give meaning to our lives. Whether we believe that lifeís meaning is pre-determined or self-directed, to grow in spirit is to realize that we do not merely exist. We do not know the meaning of our lives at birth; but we gain knowledge and wisdom from our interactions with people and from our actions and reactions to the situations we are in. As we discover this meaning, there are certain beliefs and values that we reject and affirm. Our lives have purpose. This purpose puts all our physical, emotional, and intellectual potentials into use; sustains us during trying times; and gives us something to look forward to---a goal to achieve, a destination to reach. A person without purpose or meaning is like a drifting ship at sea. To grow spiritually is to recognize interconnections. Religions stress the concept of our relatedness to all creation, live and inanimate. Thus we call other people ìbrothers and sistersî even if there are no direct blood relations. Moreover, deity-centered religions such as Christianity and Islam speak of the relationship between humans and a higher being. On the other hand, science expounds on our link to other living things through the evolution theory. This relatedness is clearly seen in the concept of ecology, the interaction between living and non-living things. In psychology, connectedness is a characteristic of self-transcendence, the highest human need according to Maslow. Recognizing your connection to all things makes you more humble and respectful of people, animals, plants, and things in nature. It makes you appreciate everything around you. It moves you to go beyond your comfort zone and reach out to other people, and become stewards of all other things around you. Growth is a process thus to grow in spirit is a day-to-day encounter. We win some, we lose some, but the important thing is that we learn, and from this knowledge, further spiritual growth is made possible. Coaching is the Way to Go in Team Management

Tip Title:Why Coaching is the Way to Go in Team Management Tip Description:When you hear the word ìcoachî, what comes first into your mind? Do you picture a basketball team with a man/woman shouting out directions? Or perhaps a football team with a man/woman pacing to and fro and calling out the names of the players? Coaching is no longer reserved to sports teams; it is now one of the key concepts in leadership and management. Why is coaching popular? Coaching levels the playing field. Coaching is one of the six emotional leadership styles proposed by Daniel Goleman. Moreover, it is a behavior or role that leaders enforce in the context of situational leadership. As a leadership style, coaching is used when the members of a group or team are competent and motivated, but do not have an idea of the long-term goals of an organization. This involves two levels of coaching: team and individual. Team coaching makes members work together. In a group of individuals, not everyone may have nor share the same level of competence and commitment to a goal. A group may be a mix of highly competent and moderately competent members with varying levels of commitment. These differences can cause friction among the members. The coaching leader helps the members level their expectations. Also, the coaching leader manages differing perspectives so that the common goal succeeds over personal goals and interests. In a big organization, leaders need to align the staffsí personal values and goals with that of the organization so that long-term directions can be pursued. Coaching builds up confidence and competence. Individual coaching is an example of situational leadership at work. It aims to mentor one-on-one building up the confidence of members by affirming good performance during regular feedbacks; and increase competence by helping the member assess his/her strengths and weaknesses towards career planning and professional development. Depending on the individualís level of competence and commitment, a leader may exercise more coaching behavior for the less-experienced members. Usually, this happens in the case of new staffs. The direct supervisor gives more defined tasks and holds regular feedbacks for the new staff, and gradually lessens the amount of coaching, directing, and supporting roles to favor delegating as competence and confidence increase. Coaching promotes individual and team excellence. Excellence is a product of habitual good practice. The regularity of meetings and constructive feedback is important in establishing habits. Members catch the habit of constantly assessing themselves for their strengths and areas for improvement that they themselves perceive what knowledge, skills, and attitudes they need to acquire to attain team goals. In the process, they attain individually excellence as well. An example is in the case of a musical orchestra: each member plays a different instrument. In order to achieve harmony of music from the different instrument, members will polish their part in the piece, aside from practicing as an ensemble. Consequently, they improve individually as an instrument player. Coaching develops high commitment to common goals. A coaching leader balances the attainment of immediate targets with long-term goals towards the vision of an organization. As mentioned earlier, with the alignment of personal goals with organizational or team goals, personal interests are kept in check. By constantly communicating the vision through formal and informal conversations, the members are inspired and motivated. Setting short-term team goals aligned with organizational goals; and making an action plan to attain these goals can help sustain the increased motivation and commitment to common goals of the members. Coaching produces valuable leaders. Leadership by example is important in coaching. A coaching leader loses credibility when he/she cannot practice what he/she preaches. This means that a coaching leader should be well organized, highly competent is his/her field, communicates openly and encourages feedback, and has a clear idea of the organizationís vision-mission-goals. By vicarious and purposive learning, members catch the same good practices and attitudes from the coaching leader, turning them into coaching leaders themselves. If a member experiences good coaching, he/she is most likely to do the same things when entrusted with formal leadership roles. Some words of caution though: coaching is just one of the styles of leadership. It can be done in combination with the other five emotional leadership styles depending on the profile of the emerging team. Moreover, coaching as a leadership style requires that you are physically, emotionally, and mentally fit most of the time since it involves two levels of coaching: individual and team. Your members expect you to be the last one to give up or bail out in any situation especially during times of crises. A coaching leader must be conscious that coaching entails investing time on each individual, and on the whole team. Moreover, that the responsibilities are greater since while you are coaching members, you are also developing future coaches as well. How to Become an Ideal Leader

When you are at work, do you get frustrated because things don't seem to be happening the way theyíre supposed to be? You see people milling around but nothing gets accomplished. And in the daily hustle and bustle, do you feel that your goals remain just that ñ goals. Then maybe its time for you to stand up and do something about it. Most people are content just to stand around listening for orders. And it isn't unusual to adopt a follow-the-leader mentality. But maybe, somewhere inside of you, you feel the desire to make things happen ñ to be the head, not the tail. Then maybe leadership just suits you fine. Some people believe that great leaders are made, not born. Yes, it may be true that some people are born with natural talents. However, without practice, without drive, without enthusiasm, and without experience, there can be no true development in leadership. You must also remember that good leaders are continually working and studying to improve their natural skills. This takes a commitment to constantly improve in whatever endeavor a person chooses. First of all, let's define leadership. To be a leader, one must be able to influence others to accomplish a goal, or an objective. He contributes to the organization and cohesion of a group. Contrary to what most people believe, leadership is not about power. It is not about harassing people or driving them using fear. It is about encouraging others towards the goal of the organization. It is putting everyone on the same page and helping them see the big picture of the organization. You must be a leader not a boss. First of all, you have to get people to follow you. How is this accomplished? People follow others when they see a clear sense of purpose. People will only follow you if they see that you know where you are going. Remember that bumper sticker? The one that says, don't follow me, I'm lost too? The same holds true for leadership. If you yourself do not know where you're headed to, chances are people will not follow you at all. You yourself must know the vision of the organization. Having a clear sense of hierarchy, knowing who the bosses are, who to talk to, the organization's goals and objectives, and how the organization works is the only way to show others you know what you are doing. Being a leader is not about what you make others do. It's about who you are, what you know, and what you do. You are a reflection of what you're subordinates must be. Studies have shown that one other bases of good leadership is the trust and confidence your subordinates have of you. If they trust you they will go through hell and high water for you and for the organization. Trust and confidence is built on good relationships, trustworthiness, and high ethics. The way you deal with your people, and the relationships you build will lay the foundation for the strength of your group. The stronger your relationship, the stronger their trust and confidence is in your capabilities. Once you have their trust and confidence, you may now proceed to communicate the goals and objectives you are to undertake. Communication is a very important key to good leadership. Without this you can not be a good leader. The knowledge and technical expertise you have must be clearly imparted to other people. Also, you can not be a good leader and unless you have good judgment. You must be able to assess situations, weigh the pros and cons of any decision, and actively seek out a solution. It is this judgment that your subordinates will come to rely upon. Therefore, good decision-making is vital to the success of your organization. Leaders are not do-it-all heroes. You should not claim to know everything, and you should not rely upon your skills alone. You should recognize and take advantage of the skills and talents your subordinates have. Only when you come to this realization will you be able to work as one cohesive unit. Remember being a leader takes a good deal of work and time. It is not learned overnight. Remember, also, that it is not about just you. It is about you and the people around you. So, do you have the drive and the desire to serve required of leaders? Do you have the desire to work cooperatively with other people? Then start now. Take your stand and be leader today. The Powers of a Positive Attitude

I am going to ask you to something very weird right now. First of all, I want you to listen to your thoughts. Now tell me, what thoughts fill your head? Would you label them as positive, or negative? Now let's say you are walking down the street with these thoughts. Do you think anyone who would meet you would be able to tell you whatís on your mind? The answer to number one is up to you. But, the answer number two can be pretty generic. Although people will not be able to tell you exactly what you think, they will more or less have an idea of how you are feeling. Here's another question. When you enter a party filled with friends, do they all fall silent as if something terrible had happened? Or does everybody there perk up as if waiting for something exciting to happen? You know what? The answer to all these depends on your frame of mind. Thoughts are very powerful. They affect your general attitude. The attitude you carry reflects on your appearance, too ñ unless, of course, you are a great actor. And it doesn't end there. Your attitude can also affect people around you. The type of attitude you carry depends on you. It can be either positive or negative. Positive thoughts have a filling effect. They are admittedly invigorating. Plus, the people around the person carrying positive thoughts are usually energized by this type of attitude. Negative thoughts on the other hand have a sapping effect on other people. Aside from making you look gloomy and sad, negative thoughts can turn a festive gathering into a funeral wake. A positive attitude attracts people, while a negative attitude repels them. People tend to shy away from those who carry a negative attitude. We can also define attitude as the way of looking at the world. If you choose to focus on the negative things in the world, more or less you have a negative attitude brewing up. However, if you choose to focus on the positive things, you are more likely carry a positive attitude. You have much to gain from a very positive attitude. For one, studies have shown that a positive attitude promotes better health. Those with this kind of attitude also have more friends. projecting a positive attitude also helps one to handle stress and problems better than those who have a negative attitude. A positive attitude begins with a healthy self-image. If you will love the way you are and are satisfied, confident, and self-assured, you also make others are around feel the same way. A negative attitude, on the other hand, has, of course, an opposite effect. So, carrying a negative attitude has a twofold drawback. You feel bad about yourself, and you make others feel the same way. If you want to have a positive attitude, you have to feature healthy thoughts. This is probably very hard to do nowadays since, all around us, the media feeds us nothing but negative thoughts. A study shows that for every 14 things a parent says to his or her child, only one is positive. This is truly a saddening thought. If you want a healthier outlook in life, you need to think happy thoughts, and you have to hear positive things as well. So, what can you do? Well, for starters, you could see a funny movie, you could play with children, spend some time telling jokes with friends. All these activities fill you with positive stimuli, which in turn promotes positive attitude. Although it is impossible to keep ourselves from the negative things around us, you can still carry a positive attitude by focusing on the good things, the positive things in life. And this positive attitude you now carry can be of benefit to other people. Sometimes when other people feel down, the thing people mostly do is try to give them advice. But sometimes, all they need is somebody to sit by them, and listen to them. If you have a positive attitude you may be able to cheer them up without even having to say anything. If positive attitude is really great, why do people choose to adopt a negative attitude instead? One who carries a negative attitude may be actually sending a signal for attention. Before you get me wrong, feeling sad, angry, or gloomy is not wrong itself. But dwelling on these thoughts for far too long is not healthy either. There is a time to mourn. As always, if you are beset by troubles, even in your darkest hour, focus on the good things in life, you will always have hope. Problems become something you can overcome. You do not have much to lose by adopting a healthy, positive attitude. Studies show that such an attitude actually retards aging, makes you healthier, helps you develop a better stress coping mechanism, and has a very positive effect on all the people you meet every day. So, what's not to like about a positive attitude? Adopt one today. Check it out Nice App!https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobyi.selfMotivation

Release Your Eagle’s Wings

Psalm 91:1-10, Psalm 121:1, Revelation 12:14, Isaiah 40:30-31, Luke 21: 25-26, Psalm 73:26,

Men and Brethren, you can make this season, the season where human limitations will be challenged by releasing your Eagle’s wings. The reason is that when we become born again Christians we should have a tremendous hunger for the word of God, the way eaglets have tremendous hunger and constantly cry for food. The scripture says “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. Psalm 91:1-10. In today’s devotion, I will take you into scriptural understanding of the Eagle nest to inspire you to a place of pre-eminence and why you must release your Eagle’s wings and soar.

Joyful Praise

Joyful Praise
1Thessalonians 5:16-18, Isaiah 55:8-9, 1 Corinthians 1:9, Romans 11:33-36, Romans 9:17, 1 Corinthians 18-31, Exodus 15:10-11, Psalm 68:1, Heb 13:15-16, Matthew 6:13, 2 Chronicles 20:17

Men and brethren, the scripture says, we are to remain joyful no matter what is happening in our lives because we have the Lord, and in Him we shall overcome no matter what the devil is trying to do to us “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” 1Thessalonians 5:16-18. Our God is a mysterious God. This awesomely awesome God has had both men and angels scratching their heads, trying to figure out how He would accomplish what He promised. But His ways are higher than our ways, His thoughts higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9). Sometimes we are tempted to worry forgetting that the things He has prepared for His children are those which our eyes have not seen, and of which our ears have not heard. They have not entered the hearts of men (1 Corinthians 1:9). When His plans and purposes are completed, men marvels at the wisdom which He has displayed, a wisdom which did not require our counsel, and which was conceived and accomplished by God alone (Romans 11:33-36).

Right where you are, the initiator and conclusion of the levels of grace and life attainment is ‘Praise’- Praise will tame your attitude and tongue to man and God. It will allow God to touch your life daily so that you can touch others. Praise can unveil the beautiful heart of God to you, making you to understand the happenings of the supernatural. Praise is the bread for living and the stability of your miracles. Praising God is the activator to the presence and power of God (Exodus 15:10-11) and your praise brings God on the scene (Psalm 22:3) because God has ordained your mouth for victory. (Psalm 8:2 Matthew 21:16). Our Awesomely awesome God is an Infinite beyond comprehension God and when you Praise Him in your circumstances, he will give you the unsearchable hidden treasures of heaven that will make you become an unparalleled example of greatness. He will also anoint your head with oil of joy to your cup running over. It is a sign when men shall say you are finished, you will say your life is just beginning.

Our God is infinitely wiser than we. He is all-wise, all-knowing, all-powerful. He often employs things which are paradoxical or even incompatible to us. He can use sinful men to achieve His purposes and to demonstrate His power and majesty (Romans 9:17). He chooses the weak and foolish things to confound the wisdom of the wise (1 Corinthians 1:18-31). He is the specialist of using the unqualified for His purpose.

There is a war going on, and your mind is the battlefield but the good news is that God is fighting on your side. Therefore, whatever you need that you don’t have, Praise God for it now, and see the breakthrough come to pass. Release “Praise Submission” against the enemies of your destiny Psalm 68:1. The scripture says “Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. Glorifying His Father in prayer is another way of saying Jesus was praising His Father. Let’s do the same! Hebrews 13:15-16. Jesus summarized every request, every prayer with Praise “For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever, Amen” (Matthew 6:13). The emphasis of this benediction is that it is God-centered because the ultimate goal of the church and every Christian is to bring glory to God.

The man who understands the power of Praise submission, nothing shall be impossible for him. In the days of King Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20:17 he declared “You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.” “And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the Lord, and who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying: “Praise the Lord, For His mercy endures forever.” 2 Chronicles 20:21-25. The rest of the story is history of victory. Therefore, when you begin to sing and to praise, the Lord shall set ambushes against your enemies and haters, who had come against Gods people; and they shall be defeated. They are going down for your sake.

In the days of Joshua, the people of God were supposed to enter the land of Canaan, the promise land but the wall of Jericho became an obstacle until Praise brought the wall down. Joshua 5:13-14. Goliath was brought down by a man who loves to Praise God 1 Samuel 17:45-47. Therefore, your problem in life will answer to the Praise in your life. For those who are asking for the fruit of the womb, I declare today, by the power of the spoken word and the name of Jesus, that your womb is ready for conception. And to you that lack progress and achievement, let every door that is closed against you be smashed opened.

We must learn how to sing ahead of Gods intervention. Paul was beaten and left to die in Acts 6 and yet he praised God regardless of what he was going through; he sang because of Gods promise to protect and fight for him. He raised the song to bring God into his situation. Therefore, when the enemy comes from every flank, when it looks like you have no one to help you; when your enemies are dancing; when they are mocking you; when they are laughing at you; that is the best time to sing praises. Let me summarize what praise can do for you:

Number One: When you Praise and dance to God, heaven will dance for you.

Number Two: When you Praise, all your enemies will know that you have praise for God because God will keep them barren the rest of their lives. Don’t dance to God as if you had cement around your waist. Release your dancing steps this morning.

Number Three: Praising and dancing before the Lord guarantee a change in your life. It is a change producer.

Number Four: Praising and Dancing for God is a means through which God intervenes in your struggles, in your sickness, in your problems.

Number Five: Praising this awesome God will compel God to take over your battle from you. It ends your struggling and your frustrations.

Number Six: When you sing and dance before the lord, every demon will run before He shows up.

Right where you are, when we speak of praise, it is not the same thing as thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is you celebrating God for what He is doing and what He has done and bringing your seed as a point of contact for next miracle. But praise is you expressing your thanks in the word of God, celebrating what God has written concerning you. Psalm 56:4, 10. Hear me, it is the ability to praise God ahead of time that will cause miracles to begin to happen in your life. Unless you thank God for where you are now; you cannot get to where you want to go tomorrow. The bible says if you can praise this God he will demonstrate His fearful acts. Exodus 15:11. I therefore decree, your days shall be renewed with favour. Whatever that concerns you shall be Heavens priority to meet and whatever that does not work in your life shall now work in the name that is above every other name, in Jesus name. Be blessed.

Concluding Prayer for Joyful Praise : Awesomely awesome God, I praise you joyfully for giving my life a meaning. I recount Your greatness: You are slow to anger, and abundant in kindness. Lord, it is in my hour of need that I see Your powerful provision in my life. When I’m in need of comfort, You are my Comforter. May You restore to me, this day, the joy of my salvation and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Lord touch me, fortify me and grant me open heaven as I praise you. Make me a fan of praise and a participator with men and women who live by praising you. I shall not allow circumstances to dictate my Praise, my destiny and my future. My cup of blessing shall run over, I am now wonderfully positioned to give you my best praise in all I do from today. I carry the anointing of breakthrough, the anointing of progress, the anointing of solutions to problems and Your blessings in my life shall be permanent in Jesus’ powerful name I pray, Amen.

English Premier League Round Up

What an incredible start in the English Premier league! Courtois sent off! Arsenal off with loss! And lots of goals!

Manchester United        1-0          Tottenham
An unfortunate start for Kyle Walker of Tottenham, while trying to nick the ball off Wayne Rooney, he ended up putting the ball in his own net. Tottenham deserved a draw a least in this match. Manchester United was always on the back foot; Tottenham created more chances, but they have to move on to the next game.

" 'Kyle Walker OG’ is an anagram of ‘Leaky Legwork’ ”  - Conor McNamara on twitter.
A superb summary by the twitter user!

Fire Up Your Creativity

Matthew 25:13-30, Gen 6:8, Matt 3:8, James 2:18

Men and brethren, there is no creation without the act of creativity. No man can rise above the level of his imagination to be a creator. When you imagine what you desire, you will possess what you imagine. Therefore, the ability of making the simple awesomely simple is creativity. You are fired up in creativity when you become a doer of your creative thinking. In the Parable of the talent in Matthew 25:13-30, talent is the element of money. It is indeed unfortunate that the term “talent” means something very different today from what our Lord meant when He told this parable. The talent was the largest measurement of money in those days. Since a talent was actually a measurement of weight, it did not have a constant value. A talent of gold, for example, would be worth a whole lot more than a talent of bronze. While commentators differ somewhat over the approximate value of a talent in today’s economy, all would agree that it was a large amount of money. Some say that it was the equivalent to 20 years’ wages for a common labourer. We must remember, then, that a talent is a measure of money; it is not a reference to abilities. The talents were distributed on the basis of ability, not as the bestowing of ability. “And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey” Matthew 25:15
