English Premier League Round Up

What an incredible start in the English Premier league! Courtois sent off! Arsenal off with loss! And lots of goals!

Manchester United        1-0          Tottenham
An unfortunate start for Kyle Walker of Tottenham, while trying to nick the ball off Wayne Rooney, he ended up putting the ball in his own net. Tottenham deserved a draw a least in this match. Manchester United was always on the back foot; Tottenham created more chances, but they have to move on to the next game.

" 'Kyle Walker OG’ is an anagram of ‘Leaky Legwork’ ”  - Conor McNamara on twitter.
A superb summary by the twitter user!

Everton                                2-2          Watford
Watford returned to the League with spectacular draw away to Everton at Stanley Park Liverpool. Miguel Layun fired in for Watford in the 14th minute. They defended resiliently against Everton until Ross Barkley equalised for the home team14 minutes from fulltime. Odion Ighalo the Nigerian international scored for Watford in the 83rd minute and Arona Kone the Ivorian international equalised for Everton in the added time.
A great return for Watford to the topflight!
Norwich               1-3          Crystal Palace
Norwich another returnee to the topflight was not as fortunate as Watford. They went down 1-3 to Crystal Palace; Norwich goal came from Nathan Redmond and Jerome’s goal was ruled out by the referee due to dangerous play. Crystal Palace goals came from Wilfried Zaha, Damien Delaney and Yohan Cabaye.
Leicester             4-2          Sunderland
Leicester took Sunderland by storm within the first twenty-five minutes of the game scoring three goals through James hardy in the 11th minute, Rihad Mahrez scored in the 18th minute and 25th minute via a penalty. Jermain Defoe scored for the visitors in the 60th minute, Marc Albrighton restored the goal parity for the home team in the 66th and finally Steven Fletcher scored another consolation for Sunderland in the 71st minute.
I would consider Rihad Mahrez for a spot on my Fantasy Premier League!
Chelsea       2-2      Swansea
Chelsea's defense of the premier league title started in a frustrating manner; Courtois was sent off for bringing down B. Gomis in the 52nd minute. During the first half,  Oscar’s shot eluded everyone in the 23rd minute and ended up in the net, Andre Ayew the Ghanaian international brought Swansea level in the 29th; however, an own goal from Federico meant Chelsea took the lead into the second half. B. Gomis slotted his first goal from the penalty spot equalising for Swansea after he was fouled by Courtois the Chelsea. Once again, the ball was put in the net again by the dangerous Gomis but it was ruled offside.

Arsenal           0-2       West Ham

Who could believe that with the enormous talent available in the Arsenal that they would lose at the Emirates to their London neighbours West Ham? With Petr Cech in goal, we were made to believe that Arsenal goal will be impregnable, what a lie! O, my fantasy league! LOL!

Arsenal as usual dominated in every statistics of the game, 22 shots, 8 shots on goal, etcetera, except in goal scoring this match. Petr Cech misjudged Dimitri Payet’s free kick to allow Cheikhou Kouyate score via a header in the 43rd. In the second half, the Arsenal defence gifted the ball to Mauro Zarate, who fired a 20 yard shot into the Arsenal goal in the 57th. Arsene Wenger the Arsenal coach did not hide his frustrations in his team’s lack of ability defensively and offensively; however, his opposite number Slaven Bilic was very pleased with the win by his club and thankful to the former coach Sam Allardyce for leaving a good team in the West Ham side.

Newcastle      2-2       Southampton
Spectacular draw I must say. Graziano Pelle has open his scoring chats for the premier league this season, he took Southampton into the lead in the 24th minute; however Papiss Cisse deflected a ball using his chest for an equaliser for Newcastle. In the second half, premier league debutant Georgino Wijnaldum took Newcastle into the lead but Shane Long ensured Southampton shared in the spoils by heading in Dusan Tadic cross.

Stoke City      0-1       Liverpool
Last season’s last fixture Stoke City defeated Liverpool 6-1; bearing this in mind Liverpool travelled to the Potteries to avenge their worst defeat in 22 years and the worst defeat  in Brendan Rodgers career at Liverpool. Both teams were defensive initially, especially Liverpool in the first half; a very drab game. Former Liverpool stars Glen Johnson and Charlie Adam came close to scoring against Liverpool; however, the maestro Philippe Countinho ensured that Liverpool kicked off the season brilliantly with a long range stunner into Stokes goal in the 86th minute. Great game! YNWA!
A Former Liverpool player had some words for Countinho via twitter
“What a goal!!! @Phil_Countinho. Once again the one to open the box."  -  Luis Gracia @LuchoGracia14

West Bromwich Albion 0-3          Manchester City
Just as in previous past records of this encounter, Manchester City dominated West Brom in every aspect of the game. Yaya Toure the huge Ivorian showed why he is the engine of his team by scoring in the 9th and 24th minute. David Silva was partly the man of the match alongside Yaya Toure; new signing Raheem Sterling made his debut for Manchester City providing that sharpness and speed that hurts teams. Vincent Kompany the Manchester City captain completed the rout with his goal in the 59th.

Courtois – three match ban, I hope I am right. Fantasy League players adjust for the next three matches!
Overall, good start, I must say!
